Cardoza Tree Experts & Demolition is a family-owned tree service based in Lothian with over 45 years in the tree care industry. We remove trees in controlled sections where needed, protect what is around them and leave the property cleaned up.
How a tree is removed near a house
When there is open ground, a tree can sometimes be felled in one piece in a planned direction. In most residential settings it is taken down from the top: a climber or bucket truck removes limbs first, then the trunk is cut in manageable sections and lowered with ropes so nothing drops onto roofs, fences or gardens.
Wood is either chipped on site, cut into rounds or hauled away depending on what you want to keep. The remaining stump can be left, cut low or ground out as a separate step.

Practical considerations
What affects the cost
Tree height and trunk diameter, how close it is to structures or power lines, whether equipment can reach it, the amount of rigging involved and whether you want the wood and stump removed. We do not publish flat prices because two trees of the same size can be very different jobs.
Permits and protected areas
Properties near tidal water in Anne Arundel County may fall within the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, where tree removal can require county review or replanting. Check requirements with Anne Arundel County before work on waterfront lots.
Power lines
Trees touching or near utility lines should be reported to the utility first. Some line-clearance work can only be done by the utility or its contractors.
How the work goes
- 1
Look at the tree
We review the tree, what it could hit and how equipment can reach it.
- 2
Written estimate
You receive a clear scope that states what is included, including wood and stump.
- 3
Scheduling
We agree a work date that suits you and the conditions.
- 4
Removal
The tree is taken down in a controlled way with the work zone kept clear.
- 5
Cleanup
Brush is chipped, wood is handled as agreed and the area is raked.
Tree Removal questions
How do I know if a tree needs to be removed?
Common signs include large dead sections of canopy, fungus or soft wood at the base, deep cracks in the trunk, a new or worsening lean, and roots that have lifted from the soil. Not every one of these means removal; some trees can be managed with pruning. An on-site look is the reliable way to decide.
Do you remove the stump as part of tree removal?
By default the trunk is cut close to the ground. Stump grinding is a separate step we can quote at the same time so it is done in one visit.
Can you remove a large tree right next to my house?
Yes. Trees close to structures are removed in sections, with limbs and trunk pieces lowered on ropes rather than dropped.
Can I keep the wood?
Yes. Tell us when we quote and we can leave trunk wood cut into rounds in an agreed spot.
